Prof. Alka Sharma’s three-decade-long research reflects her deep commitment to social equity, ageing, and inclusive development. Her work in gerontology explores the psychosocial adjustment of elderly individuals living alone and advocates for active ageing, intergenerational bonding, and community-based care. Integrating sociology, gender studies, and public health, she addresses key issues of social sustainability and well-being. Her contributions extend to gender studies, digital sociology, tribal development, and education reform. Through her research on women’s empowerment, digital health communication, and gendered use of technology, she continues to shape academic and policy discourse, mentoring over 30 research scholars and leading global collaborations.
